GP Referral Service

We help patients who are registered with the Northfield / Mastrick Practice and have alcohol related problems.

We will look at:

• Why patients drink.

• How alcohol affects them.

• How alcohol is affecting their health.

• How to cut down or stop drinking.

How to Make a Referral                                                               

Referrals can be made by your doctor.

What Happens Next?                                                                   

• Your first 2 appointments will be assessments.

• Your counsellor will assess whether you feel able and motivated to address your alcohol related problem.

• A further 6 weekly sessions will enable the counsellor to monitor your progress.  This will include support from your GP.

• Your GP will be provided with a report at the end of the programme.

What Happens if Patients do not Attend?                                 

• If a patient cannot attend because they are ill we will    re-schedule their appointments.

• Should they stop attending the program me we will inform their GP.

What about Confidentiality?                                           

• To assist with the initial assessment, we will be given basic information from the GP.

•  The client will have the opportunity to see any report prior to it being sent to the GP.
