How do I become a counsellor

Counselling Services

We offer free confidential one-to-one counselling service to those experiencing problems as a result of their own alcohol use or for those affected by other people’s drinking.

• one-to-one, free confidential counselling service delivered by professionally trained volunteers and staff.

• an assessment appointment(s) to look at the nature of your current problems.

• you may then be offered a number of sessions to help you explore your problems and look at ways to make positive changes that are realistic and achievable.

How Can I Get Counselling?                                                       

You may:

• ring and ‘refer’ yourself, or

• be referred by a professional such as a GP who understands the nature of your problem.

Will I have to Wait?                                                                      

• there may be a wait, but your referral is the start of the process of changing your situation.

• advice, written and verbal, are available meantime.

What About Confidentiality?                                                      

All information shared with your Counsellor is confidential, subject to concerns over your personal safety or those close to you.  This will be fully explained at your first appointment.
