New Hospital Based Alcohol/Domestic Abuse Support Service
at Accident and Emergency, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

AACS has received £49,622 to set up a new hospital based service within the Accident and Emergency Department at Aberdeen Royal  Infirmary.

AACS is committed to providing high quality services to those in need in an atmosphere of trust and confidentiality, especially in instances where repeat victims or children are involved.

The new service is for pregnant or injured female victims of violence, particularly repeat victims of domestic violence.  The client group will include not just female victims and their children who are homeless   arising out of incidents of domestic violence, but also women who have been involved in alcohol or drug misuse where it is a contributory factor in their situation.

The finer details are in the process of being drawn up but it is  envisaged that two new part-time Support Worker Posts will be  advertised in September 2006 with a view to commencing the 18 month project in January 2007.  They will join the Child and Family Team and will offer a service within the Accident and Emergency Department on a Friday and Saturday night.

Further details can be obtained from Alayne Jones, Services Manager on 01224 573887
