Child and Family Service

The Child and Family service is funded in Aberdeenshire for children and young people (aged 8-17) affected by parental substance misuse and significant others (e.g. partners, grandparents). The service is funded in the Aberdeen City for children and young  people affected by parental alcohol use; this also includes significant others.

Specialist caseworkers support:

• partners and children of problem drinkers,
• the drinking parent,

• children and teenagers who experience problems through their own use of alcohol.

Sometimes there is involvement with Children's Hearings and Child Protection Case Conferences, where appropriate.

How Are Referrals Made?                                                        

• By schools, doctors, social workers, health visitors, substance misuse workers or self referrals.

• Clients can be seen in our Dee Street premises or at local health centres or social work departments.
