Designated Place

On Doors Open Day, some of Scotland's most interesting buildings, many of them not normally open to the general public, are opened free of charge.

In Aberdeen, 34 venues will be taking part and for the first time Alcohol Support Ltd will be involved.   

The Designated Place will be open between 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm.

 

It was the first Designated Place in Scotland and was opened in 1983 and is one of only two Designated Places in Scotland. 

The Designated Place was redeveloped in 2004 with an investment of £250,000 and:

• is for persons deemed to be drunk and incapable and is an alternative to being arrested and spending the night in the police cells.

• ensures the safety and well-being of people under the influence of alcohol.

We place emphasis on creating a safe and supportive environment within the Designated Place and offer higher levels of social inclusion. 

• On Saturday, 8th September 2007 between 2pm - 4 pm, you will be able to:

• walk around the Unit

• view displays about our services and the history of the building

• watch demonstrations of the Cell Occupancy Monitoring System (COMS)

• have an opportunity to try out the beer goggles and games.
